Recharge directly, and keep the cashback honest
A five-rupee fee on a fifty-rupee recharge is a ten percent markup. Read the fee line.
The fee arithmetic
Apps advertise cashback and add a convenience fee. If the cashback is a coupon for the same app and the fee is cash, you have paid money for a discount you may never use. Compare the amount debited from your account, not the number shown in the offer banner.
Validity matters more than price
- A cheaper plan with a shorter validity can cost more per month.
- Data-only packs do not restore voice benefits.
- DTH packs differ by region and by box type.
- Broadband renewals often have a separate portal from mobile.
If a recharge fails
Keep the order ID. Most operators reverse a failed recharge automatically within a few hours. If it does not arrive, contact the operator with the ID before recharging again. A double recharge is harder to reverse than a failed one.
Questions people ask
Is the operator's app cheaper?
Often, because there is no aggregator fee. It is not always the case, so check the debited amount once.
Can I recharge a number on another network?
Yes. Recharge is not tied to your own operator — but the plan you buy must exist for the recipient's operator and circle.
